Uniforms

Research supports the idea that when children are dressed in a like fashion there is less social stereotyping. Therefore, East Link Academy Charter has implemented a Uniform Dress Code. The purpose of the dress code is to encourage students to focus on the learning process without the distractions of unsuitable dress and grooming.

We believe uniforms show school pride and create an environment that focuses on academic rigor. A school uniform teaches students to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance, in preparation for learning and future careers. The use of uniforms can also promote a sense of community and school pride, while promoting an environment of equality.

Students must arrive at school dressed properly according to the ELA dress code and must remain in dress code until leaving campus. The Head of School or any other duly authorized school official has the discretion to determine the appropriateness of uniform and grooming and make special exceptions, including those for religious and medical reasons. If a student’s uniform is not appropriate for the school day, the student’s parent will be called and asked to bring the missing item to school as soon as possible.

The teacher or school official will notify the parent to bring the correct uniform. At the second offense, a phone call will be made to parents by administration and subsequent offenses will result in a parent/student conference with the Head of School.

In the event that a parent cannot be reached, administration will seek alternate clothing from the Uniform Closet.
